a closer look this is the enlarged version of my current Facebook profile picture. It's a grid comprised entirely of other people's Facebook profile pictures. In other words, these are all images that people (mostly from North Dakota) are currently using or have used recently to represent themselves in a public realm. |

It may help the joke at the end to know that my father and I are both named John. (I go by "Toby", but my full real name is John Tobias Jones) qlady helped out with the inking and hands. |

"Filmmaking" hey, everyone.
As readers of this "Livejournal" may or may not know, I post comics here but I am a filmmaker by trade. And by "by trade", I mean that it is what I'm going to school for. So why not post a few of my movies? I um.. worked hard on them.
High School Weekend (7 min) is my best movie technically, mostly because I got other people to shoot and light it and I used a more fancy camera. It's a sad and funny tale about a teenage boy at an uncomfortable time in his life. I'm bad at writing synopses.
Garry Marshall Serenade (2 min) is a tiny, incredibly creepy movie that is intended to be humorous. Have you ever seen the film "Georgia Rule" by Garry Marshall? Familiarity with its poster would help a bit here.
Archibald the Turquoise (6 min) is a comedy something my friends and I put together for fun a few days ago. All the dialogue was improvised and we came up with the plot on the spot. It's pretty fun, I think!
Sometimes it Snows in April (9 min) is a rather strange and surreal picture I made last year. It's kind of hard to explain, but it's all supposed to be funny.

Hey, every person. It has been a long time, as I've been working on my big ol' full-color 18-page comic project for Ed's "Panels Without Borders" comic exhibition. It will be up here when it is finally done. In the meantime, here are a few sloppy, hastily-scrawled comics that I doodled during class. Enjoy! Most of those pets are from when I was considerably younger, explaining the lame names. Here is a film that my friend and former roommate made about our fish obsession: |

another collaboration with qlady Sorry that it has only been "Man-Fiction" and no actual comic comics in over a month, but there is a two-page one about anal sac cleansing coming up soon. Also, the longer story (to be done early next year, very lengthy and probably in color) is going along nicely. not that you shouldn't appreciate this Man-Fiction, because it is clearly completely amazing. |

Sooo I don't expect that I'll update much in the near future because I'm working on a longer comic story for a show at my school. I encourage you to check out qlady in the meantime because she's so pretty! And she'll probably update more than me. |

(this is a strip I made for Comic Sanz, as are the Man-Fictions. I simply took an actual existing Marmaduke comic and replaced Marmaduke with my dog and the owner with me. Where's your God now?) For those of you who have not met her personally, Willoughby is a basset hound/yellow lab mix and she is one of the greatest things to ever happen to me. She is 6.5 months old and funny-looking. |

Hey! My lady-friend Maddie just started an el-jay page and she is putting up some comics there, you should definitely check it out at qlady. Presently it features a couple of somewhat precious anecdotes. Who knows what the future holds for this site? Lava? Kitchen tile? Mountaintops? Only time will tell, but you will want to be there to see it when it happens. |

For more fun that's based on desserts and that conversation in the skyway that freaked me out way back when, check out this film my friend and I made last semester called "Nothing Tastes Good"- http://youtube.com/watch?v=9lYQXPxbFf8 (only the skyway scene, the breakup quotes, and dessert fixation are based on reality) |

 * the last panel is Maddie's inebriated roommate coming home in the middle of the night screaming, crying, and yelling about cryptic things like "stopping the bleeding". Yikes. |
